In this untitled work, Vincent Scheers further develops his materially driven approach to painting: Using natural pigments, dyes, and bleaching agents on nettle canvas, he creates soft, atmospheric fields and fluid transitions. Throughout his practice, Scheers explores the relationship between humans and animals. Also in this painting the initially abstract image structure gradually resolves upon closer inspection into a figurative motif: a bird appears to be diving towards a human figure.
About the Artist Vincent Scheers
Vincent Scheers (b. 1990 in Belgium) works with unusual means: natural pigments, dyes and bleach on nettle cloth. From this restrained material vocabulary he develops images whose appeal lies in their materiality and in subtle transitions. Scheers is represented by the Munich gallery Wunderkunst, which presents his work internationally.
