„Canvas Automata (Pure Silver)“ is a three-part unique work in UV print on canvas that distils Taslima Ahmed’s inquiry into painting in the digital age. Across the three panels stretches a silvery, shimmering surface where digital image-editing and printing meet the tradition of the panel painting. The mechanical, „automaton-like“ character of image production is thus deliberately made visible – painting between the human hand and the machine.
About the Artist Taslima Ahmed
Taslima Ahmed, born in Liverpool and now based in Berlin, joins digital technology with the tradition of painting. Her works are produced using Photoshop and 3-D UV printing on synthetic linen, with pigments built up in layers into flat reliefs that carry a pseudo-impasto effect. In this way she examines the relationship between human and computer as the very material of artistic production. Alongside her painting, Ahmed also works as a writer.
